Pocket PC SMES ActiveSync Service Provider

Installation and Usage

 

1.  Connect your Pocket PC device to the computer.

 

2.  Click on the link “SMES Pocket PC Service Provider” to download the software installer.  Depending on the browser you are using, a screen similar to this will appear:

 

  

 

3.  Select either “Open” or “Save” to download the service provider installer. 

 

Selecting “Open” will download and run the installer off of the server.  Selecting “Save” will prompt you to browse to a location to save the installer and then run it in a separate step.  If you select “Save”, the following screen will display:

 

 

Use the drop down box located to the right of the “Save In” box to browse to the location where you would like to save the program.  A file called “CeSetup.exe” will be saved to the location selected.  When the download is complete, the system will notify you and give you the option to “Run” the file downloaded or “Close” the download box.

 

Click on “Run” and you will automatically be presented with the installer start screen as follows:

 

 

4.  Click the “Next” button to begin the installation process.  The following screen will display:

 

 

5.  Click the “Browse” button to browse to the location in which to install the service provider or accept the default location.  Click “Next” to continue.   (Note: The “Disk Usage” button enumerates the available drives for installation, drive size, drive free space, and space needed to install SMES Pocket PC Service Provider.)  When you click the “Next” button, the following screen will display:

 

 

6.  Click the “Install” button to begin the installation process.  The following screen will display:

 

 

7.  Click the “Yes” button on the “Installing Applications” window to begin the installation process.  The following screen will display:

 

 

8.   Click the “OK” button on the “Application Downloading Complete” window.  The following screen will display:

 

 

9.  Click the “Finish” button on the “SMES CE Setup” window to finish the process.

 

10.  Click “Yes” on the “Installer Information” window to restart your computer.  Leave the Pocket PC device connected during the restart. 

 

After the restart, the following screen will display:

 

 

11.  This is the “Microsoft ActiveSync” window.  It will open and complete the synchronization process as usual.  Click on the “Options” button in the second menu bar.  The following screen will appear:

 

 

12.  On the “Sync Options” tab, put a check mark in the box next to the “SmesActiveSync” option and click “OK”. 

 

The “SmesActiveSync” process will now show up in the “Microsoft ActiveSync” window.  This is the process that will allow the activities to be downloaded to your PDA device.

 

Note:  If the “Calendar” service provider is active, the events that are added to the Pocket Outlook Calendar will also be propagated to the desktop Outlook Calendar.


 

 

 

Downloading Events to Your Portable Device

 

1.  From the Schedule page select the season you wish to view, and click the “Go” button.

 

2. Select the sport(s) you wish to view and click to “Go” button.  The activities schedule for the events selected will display.

 

3.  At the bottom of the schedule is a “Download” button.  Click the “Download” button to download the schedule to your portable device and the following screen will display:

 

 

4.  Click the “Save” button to save this file to the hard drive of your PC.  When you click “Save”, the following screen will appear:

 

 

5.  When the “Save As” dialog box displays, the only information that should be changed is the “Save in:” location.  This location MUST be set to “Local Disk (C:)”.  The filename MUST be left as “smes.txt,” and the file type MUST be left as “Text Document”.  Click the “Save” button to download the file.

 

Note:    The file MUST be named “smes.txt” and it must be saved to the “Local Disk (C:)” for the synchronization process to work correctly.

 

6.  After the file has been downloaded, the ActiveSync process will automatically detect the file and begin the synchronization process if your Pocket PC device is connected.
